Stop by our station Monday through Friday, 9:00 am – 2:00 pm, or join us on Tuesday nights at 7:00 pm. Ask for a membership application, and our dedicated firefighters will provide the paperwork, give you an exclusive tour of our station, and answer any questions about becoming a firefighter.
Requirements
To qualify as a Mattydale Firefighter, you must:
- Be a resident of New York State
- Be at least 18 years old
- Hold a high school diploma or GED
- Be able to do a minimum of 16 hours of duty time per month
First-Year Milestones
New firefighters are expected to complete the following within their first year:
- Earn your NYS BEFO and or IFO certification, or NYS EMT Certification
- Complete the New Firefighter Training Program
- Attend at least half of scheduled drills and meetings
- Successfully complete all assigned duties, including truck checks

Our Department
The Mattydale Fire Department serves a 1.9-square-mile area and responds to approximately 1,200 emergency calls annually. Our team includes highly skilled firefighters and medical providers ranging from EMTs to Paramedics, all dedicated to keeping the community safe.
We offer diverse membership opportunities for those interested in:

Junior Firefighter Program
For individuals aged 13–19, our Junior Firefighter Program provides a pathway to explore the fire service, gain hands-on experience, and contribute to the community at a young age.
